Yes, we can provisionally hold your wedding date for you until you get to hear us perform or if you need to get some details finalised, although the length of time that we can provisionally hold a date will depend on other enquiries for that date.
Yes, we do allow guests to sing at weddings and will provide backing for them although the final say on who is to be called to sing etc rests with the bride & groom but through experience we have found it is advisable to limit the number of guests called to sing.
Normally 3 hours including 20/25 minute break while tea/coffee is been served.
Wavelength have a playlist for weddings and from time to time this does vary depending on any requests from the bride & groom or depending on the crowd. While it would not be possible to include all of our playlist in a wedding set, sometimes we may lean towards a certain direction, some weddings may be a lot of country, waltzes etc while another could be mostly 70's, 80's.
No, backing tracks are not used, everything is live.
Most couples booking bands have to "gatecrash" another wedding, don't worry the couple whose wedding you go along to have probably done the same thing. It is best to see a band perform at a wedding and try to see the band for as long as period of time as possible. Also ask the band if it was their general playlist you heard or was it altered specifically to the bride & grooms requests.
No, even though we have a comprehensive repertoire covering many decades & genres of music, if you require a jazz, swing or specific tribute style band then we can recommend other bands that solely provide that style of music.
Yes, we have no problem travelling to perform at weddings, functions in any part of the country and have indeed played at functions in England and the US.
Yes. Couples can chose a the song for their first dance from our playlist, we also have a list of songs on our wedding songs page which we have found to be the most popular choices and more recently couples tend to have their first song on CD or if given at least 4 weeks notice, Wavelength will learn that first song for you subject to suitability.
Yes we can organise the disco for your wedding. There are a number of DJs around the country whom we work with depending on what you require. On our links page you will also find details of DJs that we work with and whom provide an efficient and professional DJ service.
Yes of course, because Wavelength cover many styles of music with an extensive playlist then we will try to include/exclude certain songs or musical styles. If there are specific songs to play/avoid this is no problem but we would hope that couples would also allow us to use our expertise to determine what will suit the crowd, so it is really a combination of our extertise and the bride/groom's input that determines the final playlist. Couples must remember that there may be songs/music styles they may not like but many of the guests may.
Yes, we can include the Siege Of Ennis, Stack Of Barley and Shoe The Donkey in our playlist but as we are not a dedicated ceili band we always do these dances in a light hearted fashion.
Wavelength always start their performance dressed in formal suits and depending on the show, the dress code will change during the later part of the evening. If there is a particular theme to the function then we will have the right attire to suit. If you have any preferences or opinions on dress code for your wedding please let us know.
The band was formed in 1999.
No not nesessarily, all correspondence can be done by phone/e-mail/text, but if you require a personal meeting there is no problem. We will have all your wedding details obtained before the wedding day.
The set up time is approx. 45 minutes from the time that we have access to the stage. You must bear in mind when the meal is finished, it will take hotel staff time to reorganise the function room, put the stage in place etc. We normally arrive at the venue at 7:30/7:45pm and aim to start playing at 9:00pm. If we start anytime after this, it is beyond our control ie meal/speeches not finished, waiting for access to stage, waiting for the bridal party to be in place etc.
Sometimes we are asked to set up before the meal so that there will be no gap between the meal and dancing and yes we can do this, but there is an extra charge as we would need to be in the hotel in the early afternoon. It will also depend on the hotel and layout of the function room ie does the hotel use the stage for the top table, is the function room large enough to accommodate having the band set up while the meal is going on, does the hotel set up the stage after the meal etc. Actually most hotels either use the stage for top table or set it up after the meal and many couples do not want band equipment in the background of their photos/video or in front of a backdrop but if it is your request, yes we can set up before the meal.
